Antioch City Council Members Endorse Mark DeSaulnier For Congress

ANTIOCH, CA - State Senator Mark DeSaulnier’s campaign for Congress announced today that all four Antioch City Council members have endorsed his candidacy for Congress.  Endorsers and members of the Antioch City Council include Mayor Pro Tem Mary Rocha, Councilmember Brian Kalinowski, Councilmember Reginald Moore, and Councilmember Martha Parsons. Members of the Antioch City Council join a long list of elected officials who have endorsed Mark DeSaulnier for Congress, including current 10th District Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher, Congressman George Miller, and Assemblyman Tom Torlakson.

"I am proud to endorse Senator Mark DeSaulnier for Congress," Antioch Mayor Pro Tem Mary Rocha said. "As our Congressman, Mark will take the voice of the people of Antioch and Contra Costa county to Washington.  In his years representing Contra Costa, Mark has partnered with Congresswoman Tauscher and delivered real results to the people of East county, creating better economic opportunities and improvements to local transportation," Rocha added.

"I am grateful to have the support of the Antioch City Council members in my race for Congress," State Senator and 10th District Congressional candidate Mark DeSaulnier said. "I have been fortunate to work for the people of Antioch and the East County in the legislature.  When I am in Congress, I will partner with Congressman George Miller and others to pass health care reform and bring real change to the people in East County."

DeSaulnier, a Democrat, currently represents Antioch in the California State Senate and has represented Antioch since he was elected to the California State Assembly in 2006.

DeSaulnier’s other endorsements include State Senator Loni Hancock, California Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, and Contra Costa County Supervisor Susan Bonilla.  Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher’s congressional seat is expected to become vacant pending confirmation as Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security in the Obama administration.  Her confirmation hearings were held earlier this week.
